Johns Manville MinWool Curtainwall insulation provides superior fire resistance and thermal performance to glass, metal, and masonry curtainwall spandrel systems. The semi-rigid mineral wool boards can be placed between or over framing members, and are available plain or with a foil-faced vapor retarder. Made from basalt-derived inorganic fibers, the product is durable, dimensionally stable, and resists fungal growth.
MinWool Curtainwall is offered in two densities — Curtainwall 40 at 4.0 pcf and Curtainwall 80 at 8.0 pcf — to address a range of compressive and fire-rated spandrel applications. The product has a melting point in excess of 2000°F; unfaced versions carry a Flame Spread of 0 and Smoke Developed of 0, and faced versions meet FS 25 / SD 50 or better. It meets ASTM C612 Types 1-4 and is widely specified in perimeter fire-containment and spandrel assemblies.
