The Chief Proximity® In-Wall Storage Box is a recessed steel enclosure that gives installers a dedicated, code-compliant space behind a flat panel display to route cabling and mount low-voltage or power components, instead of leaving cable slack and adapters loose behind the screen. It is sold in two sizes: a Small box (PAC525) measuring approximately 229 x 362 x 98 mm (9 x 14.25 x 3.88 in), and a Large box (PAC526) measuring approximately 362 x 362 x 99 mm (14.25 x 14.25 x 3.9 in). Both sizes are rated for up to 10 lb (4.5 kg) of internal component weight.
Each box is built with breakaway edges that let it be trimmed to fit either 3.5 in or 2.5 in stud bays, and it can be installed directly to studs or into open drywall, in either landscape or portrait orientation. Five 1-gang AC outlet knockouts and eleven conduit knockouts sized at 0.5, 1, and 1.25 in give installers flexibility in routing both power and low-voltage cabling into the box from multiple directions, and integrated zip-tie anchor points keep cabling organized once components are installed. The enclosure itself is cULus Listed to UL 2416, the safety standard for this class of enclosure.
Beyond the base empty enclosure, Chief also sells configured variants of both sizes with integrated receptacle, filter, and surge protection — for example versions with 2, 4, or 6 outlets and built-in surge suppression — so a single in-wall box can provide filtered power directly at the display location rather than requiring a separate power strip. The Proximity box line is explicitly designed to work alongside Chief’s other display mount families, including the PST, PRO, PLP, MSR, MTR, MWH, MWR, PWR, PNR, and PDR series as well as the Thinstall and Fusion mount lines covered elsewhere in this catalog.
