Pre-grown, low maintenance, modular DIY green roof system. This brown wildflower option is the most biodiverse, based on an intensive substrate and seeded with 20-30 wildflower and meadow grass varieties. The modules (GrufeTiles, already planted) are simply clipped on top of the protection fleece (supplied) on any flat non-corrugated roof with up to a 30° slope. This saves time compared to component systems, where each layer has to be built up separately.
The tiles can be laid directly on top of the waterproofing surface for a longer-lasting roof. They are low maintenance and require no irrigation system. Optional accessories include white pebbles and edge guard (GrufeGuard).
Features and benefits:
Wildflowers bloom in spring/ summer, will die back to bare soil in autumn/ winter.
High biodiversity allowing windblown local seeds to grow.
Increased sound insulation and outdoor structural protection.
UV resistant module.
Temperature range: -50 to +80°C.
For gradients more than 16°, either GrufeGuard aluminium edging or 4 x 2 inch (102 x 51 mm) restraining timber battens can be installed prior to waterproofing, depending on roof conditions.
Pebbles may be required by some authorities for access or as a fire break.
