GreenCoat® – Architecture, Steel and Swedish Rapeseed Oil

GreenCoat® is SSAB’s brand for innovative, sustainable colour coated steel sheet material for metal roofs, wall claddings, façades and rainwater systems. GreenCoat® colour coated steel products are available in more than 400 colours. 

Recently, a number of buildings made from GreenCoat® have been honoured with many national and international architecture awards.

Greener, better performance
All GreenCoat® products come with premium Nordic quality steel in the substrate, which is recognized worldwide as one of the best steels available on the market. On top, most GreenCoat® products use a substantial amount of Swedish rapeseed oil in the coating instead of traditional fossil-based oils, making GreenCoat® colour coated steels unique on the market. These patented, sustainable coatings do not only offer environmental advantages, but also increased performance. 

GreenCoat® colour coated steels are highly resistant to corrosion, UV radiation as well as scratches. They provide builders with a lightweight material that is easy to work with, even down to -15°C. Additionally, steel is 100% recyclable and offers increased durability for years to come. 

SSAB is also committed to the sustainable production of steel. In addition to using a high percentage of recycled material when producing steel, SSAB is a member of the joint venture HYBRIT project, which aims to revolutionize the steel industry with the world’s first fossil-free steel by 2035.
