Today foundries are far fewer, but the capacity is greater and the foundry industry is a major subcontractor for the engineering and automotive industries. Per capita, Sweden is one of the world's largest manufacturers of cast iron. The local mills, however, with it's own products and superior craftsmanship traditions are few. One of them is located in Byarum and cast recycled aluminum.

Esplanadpark, Helsinki

WSP Finland was commissioned to widen the pavements along the Esplanadpark, designed by Carl Ludvig Engel in the early 1800s. With just seven months from brief to opening, both the public and local businesses were invited to a workshop to shape the result.
Byarums Bruk's products were part of the inspiration material from the start. On site you'll find sofas and benches from the Jujol series, a gold-coloured Classic sofa, Blom planters filled with historically inspired plants, and Arkus cycle stands.
Every choice reflects the park's origins and the character of the surrounding facades.
