Split Paving

Split paving stones have cleaved upper and lower surfaces and 4 sawn edges and offer a significant anti-slip advantage. The cleaved faces of the bluestone, which are dark grey in colour and have a lot of sparkle, reveal the robustness and the raw, natural appearance of the rock: a surface with large chips, with irregularly distributed bumps and hollows of various shapes, dotted with sparkling crystals. The mechanical cleavage is carried out with a cleaver, a hydraulic press with a blade that separates the sawn stone elements into two.

Notes:

• Recommended joint width: mortar: 5 to 10mm / white sand: min. 5 mm.
• Tolerance on thickness: ± 10mm.

Appearance: Robust, rough-hewn and sparkly

Colour: Various shades of dark blue-grey with ’sparkles’

Texture: Very rugged

Specifications:

• 4 sawn edges with the upper and lower face hewn.
• Sawn surfaces may show slight traces of rust due to sawing that will fade with time.
